The Fifth World Conference of the Society for East Asian Archaeology will
be held in Fukuoka, Japan in June 2012. The core academic program is scheduled
to take place between 6th (Thursday) and 10th (Sunday) of June.
The conference will be located in the Nishijin area, about 7-minute tube
ride away from the centre of Fukuoka, with the venues near each other at
Kyushu University Nishijin Plaza and Seinan Gakuin University.
The conference is organised by the local organising committee with Professor
Hiroaki Takakura as the president, and will be supported by local and national
archaeological associations.

City of Fukuoka
Fukuoka and its environs have been one of the most important hubs of interaction
and communication in East Asia since prehistoric times, and are very rich
in archaeological/historical heritage. The Kyushu National Museum (http://www.kyuhaku.jp/) and the Yoshinogari National Historical Park (http://www.yoshinogari.jp/) well exemplify this, and they will be included in pre/post-congress excursion
programs.
